Can You Immunize Yourself Against Obamacare?

The short answer is … no.

Our Benjamin Domenech explained on Glenn Beck’s The Blaze TV the other day how you need to find a primary-care physician — and a young one — and find him now. [Video below the fold.] Obamacare is going to change our health care system for the worse, as Ben has covered extensively on the health section of Heartland’s digital magazine, the Heartlander.

Watch Ben dominate this panel discussion with his well-informed insight below. A quick synopsis of the coming “Docopalypse.” In short: Obamacare is a system “not designed to work,” but to cause the current health care system to collapse and create a single-payer, government-run health system. And Ben predicts the system will collapse a lot faster than many think.

Bad advice? Investing in your HSAs. Under Obamacare, they will become “less attractive” and useful to you because many of their useful features are becoming “outlawed” under Obamacare — such as the ban on using them to pay for over-the-counter drugs. Good advice? Get familiar with “medical tourism.” Ben notes that Costa Rica is an up-and-comer.

Ugh.

Watch below.

I think it’s a little late for you to be advising folks to “get familiar with medical tourism.”

Millions of poor people and young people who had no coverage before 2010 already know.

In fact, even Sarah Palin admitted that as a young child she and her family used to cross the border into Canada to get medical treatment.

While we are on the subject, Canada might be a better choice than Costa Rica.

Although Costa Rica’s healthcare system ranks higher than America’s healthcare system, it still ranks lower than Canada’s healthcare system.

The CIA World Factbook has some information that medical tourists might find useful:

    · List of countries by life expectancy

    · List of countries by infant mortality rate

    · List of countries by total health expenditure per capita

A patient coming from America to Canada can expect to save from 30 to 60 percent on health costs.
