Earlier this month, Doctors for Disaster Preparedness (DDP) hosted their 33rd Annual Meeting in Ontario, California where they discussed the “Myths, Superstitions, and Real Threats Confronting America.” DDP is a non-profit organization based out of Arizona whose mission is to promote “homeland defense and prudent preparedness for disasters of all kinds.”
Jane M. Orient, M.D., Executive Director at the Association of American Physicians and Surgeons, started off the event with a short, but very interesting, introductory speech. Orient currently serves as president of DDP. Her speech, available above, sets the stage for the rest of the conference. Orient states what will be addressed during the weekend conference and explains her disdain for unfounded claims for “settled science.”
