Conservatives have for years been pointing out the oppressive nature of the left’s utter domination of American culture. And it becomes more clear every day that the Gramscian march through the institutions of media, academia, and Hollywood has brought about what we can only hope is near-peak Cultural Marxism. The Gramscians have claimed another scalp by getting 10 percent of Prager University videos blacklisted on YouTube.
If you are not familiar with Prager University videos, they are excellent short primers that give counter-spin to the MSM/leftist narrative on various topics. They have videos that defend capitalism, oppose socialism, debunk climate alarmism, address supposed “Islamaphobia,” argue for supply-side economics, etc. They are absolutely top-notch, and feature some of the greatest thinkers and writers in the world today, such as: Dick Lindzen, George Will, Victor Davis Hanson, Arthur Brooks, Christina Hoff Summers, George Gilder, Heather Mac Donald, Patrick Moore, Amity Shlaes, Walter Williams, and many more. The 200-plus videos have been viewed, in total, more than 70 million times. There is nothing remotely controversial about them, other than the fact that they offer persuasive, intelligent, and effective arguments that counter to the leftist narrative of the United States and the world.
Nonetheless, Google-owned YouTube recently put 21 Prager University videos into “restricted mode,” a category “meant for inappropriate and objectionable adult and sexual content.” These are educational videos, appropriate in tone and content for children, but aimed at young adults who need to be deprogrammed from a lifetime of leftist indoctrination. But even this singular, but popular, redoubt to The Approved Narrative will not be tolerated.
From The College Fix:
YouTube has placed 21 PragerU videos on “restricted mode,” a category meant for inappropriate and objectionable adult and sexual content…
“We’ve worked quietly behind the scenes for months to resolve this, but YouTube’s censorship continues, leaving us with no option but to go public,” PragerU announced Tuesday on its Facebook page.
YouTube is owned by Google, and PragerU states on its website that “in response to an official complaint we filed, Google specialists defended their restriction of our videos, and said, ‘We don’t censor anyone,’ although they do ‘take into consideration what the intent of the video is’ and ‘what the focus of the video is.’”
“There is no excuse for Google and YouTube censoring and restricting any PragerU videos, which are produced with the sole intent of educating people of all ages about America’s founding values,” the conservative nonprofit states on its website.
This is yet more proof that the left always – always – exercises its power brutally to suppress any “improper” speech and thoughts. They preach tolerance while attacking all who do not agree with them on every issue. They do not revere freedom of speech, but consider the Constitution an impediment to their aims. And this oppression will only accelerate if the left is validated, again, this November. YouTube, along with every other entity or individual with power in our culture, is doing all it can to ensure that happens. And it’s damned depressing.
If you want to do something about this, Prager University has launched a petition to get the videos de-listed.
