John Nothdurft and Donny Kendal present episode #99 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today’s podcast features work from the Josiah Bartlett Center for Public Policy, the Goldwater Institute, and American Legislative Exchange Council.
Policybot Featured Work of the Week
This week’s Policybot featured work of the week comes from the Josiah Bartlett Center for Public Policy. The report, titled “An Assesment of the New Hampshire Coastal Risk and Hazards Commission Report,” refutes a 124-page report released by the New Hampshire Coastal Risk and Hazard Commission (NHCRHC) which attempted to explain how climate change and rising sea levels will negatively effect New Hampshire. The Josiah Bartlett Center’s refutation deconstructs the NHCRHC’s report, showing that sea levels are not going to rise at the alarmist levels suggested.
Other Think Tank Works
Next, Donny and John talk about a press release by The Goldwater Institute explaining how they are filing a lawsuit against the city of Santa Fe, New Mexico, for demanding a list of donors from the Rio Grande Foundation. As John explains, this demand is an affront to free speech on the most basic level.
Donny and John also talk about a video released by the American Legislative Exchange Council titled “Generations of Opportunity: Kentucky.” This short video highlights the benefits of becoming a “Right-to-Work” state. John explains what “right to work” is and how it can help workers across the country.
In the last segment, Donny asks for John’s opinion on a supposed proposition by White House Chief Strategist Steve Bannon to increase the highest level of the income tax to 44% while reducing the levels for everyone else.
