John Nothdurft and Donny Kendal present episode #129 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today’s podcast features work from the Mercatus Center, the Heritage Foundation, and The Heartland Institute.
Before moving on to think tank and policy related topics, Donny and John talk about the Utah House of Reps’ Fresh Prince of Bel-Air spoof.
Policybot Featured Work of the Week
This week’s featured work is a report titled “Stabilizing the ACA’s individual Markets: Why State Innovation is Key.” This report was co-authored by multiple free market groups including the Mercatus Center, the Buckeye Institute, and the Galen Institute. The authors give a thorough look at the ACA waivers process, showing the successes and the shortcomings.
More Think Tank Works
Donny and John then talk about a Washington Examiner article titled “Heritage Foundation: 64% of Trump’s agenda already done, faster than Reagan.” According to the article, the Trump administration has implemented “nearly two-thirds of the 334 agenda items called for by the Heritage Foundation(‘s)” “Mandate for Leadership blueprint.”
Lastly, Donny and John are joined by Heartland Institute Research Fellow Isaac Orr. Isaac, who refused to sing, discusses Heartland’s ongoing coal project explaining how coal still plays a major role in our economy.
