John Nothdurft and Donny Kendal present episode #136 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today’s podcast features work from the Heritage Foundation, the American Legislative Exchange Council, and Illinois Policy.
Policybot Featured Work of the Week
This week’s Policybot featured work comes from the Heritage Foundation. The report, titled “Do Borders Matter? The Supreme Court Reviews Internet Sales Taxes,” gives insight into the debate about whether states should be able to collect sales tax on internet purchases. As Donny explains, the report single-handedly reversed his views on the matter.
More Think Tank Works
Next, Donny and John welcome on Jonathan Williams, Chief Economist and Vice President for the Center for State Fiscal Reform at The American Legislative Exchange Council. Williams joins the show to talk about ALEC’s recently released Rich States, Poor States 11th Edition.
Donny and John then talk about Tax Day. According to the Tax Foundation, Tax Freedom Day falls on April 19th this year. However, Illinois Policy Institute reminds us that Illinois’ tax freedom day is actually 10 days later, April 29th.
Last, Donny asks what John thinks about geoengineering as a potential solution to global warming.
