John Nothdurft and Donny Kendal present episode #139 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today’s podcast features work from the Heritage Foundation and the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii.
Donny starts off the episode talking about the anti-population control messaging of Avengers: Infinity War. Turns out, the villain is trying to save the universe by wiping out half the population.
Before getting to the featured work, Donny and John talk about an article titled “Climate Skeptics More Eco-friendly Than Global-Warming Alarmists: Study.” The article covers a study by conducted by Cornell and the University of Michigan that found that concern about global warming was not a predictor of personal pro-environment behaviors. Donny discusses how this seemingly hypocritical behavior can be seen in a number of other topics.
Policybot Featured Work of the Week
This week’s Policybot featured work comes from The Heritage Foundation. The piece, titled “One Question: What Will Dropping Net Neutrality Rules Mean for Internet Users?,” compiles responses from a number of policy experts on the topic of net neutrality repeal. Experts include Robert McDowell, a fellow at the Hudson Institute; James Gattuso, senior fellow at The Heritage Foundation; Berin Szoka, president of TechFreedom; and many more.
In a previous episode, Donny took a deep dive into Net Neutrality. You can find that episode here.
More Think Tank Works
Next, Donny and John talk about an article from the Grassroot Institute of Hawaii titled “Government Fanned Flames of Volcano Disaster.” The article explains how the state government initiated a volcano insurance program for high-risk areas of Hawaii after private insurance companies refused to do so.
In the last segment, John and Donny talk about a new requirement in California that will force all new homes to build with solar panels.
