Donny Kendal and John Nothdurft present episode #154 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. This week’s episode features work from the Cato Institute, the Center of the American Experiment, and the Nevada Policy Research Institute.
For this week’s Policybot Featured Work of the Week, Donny and John discuss the new 2018 Freedom in the 50 States report from the Cato Institute. This report ranks all 50 states based on more than 230 policy variables. These variables are grouped into 3 major categories – Fiscal, Regulatory, and Personal. Donny and John talk about the top states, the bottom states and more.
Next, Donny and John welcome to the show, Isaac Orr, research fellow at The Center of the American Experiment. Isaac joins the show to talk about a new report titled “Unearthing Prosperity: How Environmentally Responsible Mining Will Boost Minnesota’s Economy.” Isaac talks about the economic benefit of mining and also addresses the environmental concerns.
In the last segment of the show, Donny and John talk about a report from the Nevada Policy Research Institute titled “Employee Freedom: A Primer on State-Based, Pro-Worker Reforms.” John explains what employee freedom is and why we should all care about workers and their relationships with unions.
