Donny Kendal presents episode #156 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. This week’s episode features work from the California Policy Center, the Reason Foundation, and The Heartland Institute.
In this episode, Donny invites on three guests. The first guest, Director of Communications Jim Lakely, joins the show to talk about the confirmation hearings of potential Supreme Court Justice Brett Kavanaugh. Jim and Donny talk about the circus show that has been the first three days of the hearing. In their opinion, the majority of the events could be chalked up to political theater.

Next, Donny is joined by Heartland State Government Relations Manager Charlie Katebi. Donny and Charlie talk about a proposed bill from Senator Bernie Sanders called the Stop Bad Employers by Zeroing Out Subsidies Act (BEZOS Act). This proposed legislation would requires companies to reimburse the government for welfare their employees consume. As Charlie and Donny explain, this potential law would have devastating consequences.

Last, Donny is joined by Lindsey Stroud, state government relations manager at The Heartland Institute. Lindsey comes on the show to talk about the latest in the realm of e-cigarettes and Tobacco Harm Reduction. In addition to giving an update on this front, Lindsey talks about her newly resurrected podcast series – subtitled “Voices of Vapers.”
