Michelle Malkin endorsed the use of the Article V convention process during a recent speaking engagement. Online video of her remarks was released on Thursday by the Convention of the States project. She said: “I love the idea of an Article V convention simply as an act of civic education.”
The Republican-controlled Senate on Tuesday passed its first budget in six years. The country has a current national debt of $18.2 trillion. Conservative activists still express frustration with party leadership for not being tough enough against President Barack Obama. Polling conducted from April 30th to May 3rd by CBS News-New York Times found only 12 percent approve of the job performance of Congress.
Malkin said an Article V convention could help conservatives take action against Congressional leaders. She stated: “It could give them leverage, give them a tool, it’s been so rusty and unused, why the heck not? So yes, two thumbs up.”
