John Nothdurft and Donny Kendal present episode #78 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today’s podcast features work from ALEC, the Heartland Institute, and the Buckeye institute.
Policybot Featured Work of the Week
This week’s Policybot featured work of the week comes from the American Legislative Exchange Council (ALEC). ALEC produces the State Tax Cut Roundup every year. The Tax Cut Roundup identifies and discusses the states that have enacted tax cuts during the past year. The report illustrates the importance of low taxes and compares low-tax states to their high-tax counterparts.
Other Think Tank Works
Next, Donny and John talk about a (beautifully designed) policy brief recently published by The Heartland Institute titled “Vaping, E-Cigarettes, and Public Policy Toward Alternatives to Smoking.” The Policy Brief outlines how E-Cigs are a relatively healthy alternative to tobacco cigarettes and, because of this, should not be taxed and regulated out of existence for the sake of national health.
The next item is a policy study published by the Buckeye Institute titled “The Impact of Renewables Portfolio Standards on the Ohio Economy.” This study shows how detrimental RPS’ can be to the economy and job creation.
