Research Fellow Isaac Orr recently had the pleasure of being on an energy-related radio show airing from Bismark, North Dakota. In the interview, he discussed his research on frac sand mining, particularly as it pertains to air quality, and other energy and environmental topics related to hydraulic fracturing. On the show, they discussed how some of the resistance to frac sand mining in the Midwest has been due to the Keep It In The Ground movement, which has sought to stop frac sand mining as a way to drive up the price of sand and limit fracking in the United States.
