John Nothdurft and Donny Kendal present episode #88 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today’s podcast features work from EdChoice, the Texas Public Policy Foundation, and the Tax Foundation.
Policybot Featured Work of the Week
This week’s Policybot featured work of the week comes from EdChoice – a non-profit organization which promotes school choice. Their recently released report, titled “Back to the Staffing Surge,” highlights how the growth in education jobs have far outpaced student enrollment growth. EdChoice presents evidence that supports a move away from the education bureaucracy and toward a system of parental choice.
Other Think Tank Works
Next, Donny and John talk about a new petition started by a coalition led by the Texas Public Policy Foundation that seeks to overturn the EPA’s 2009 endangerment finding. This finding is the basis for the government’s regulation of CO2 – the implications of which are widespread.
The next item discussed on the podcast is a study from the Tax Foundation titled “How High Are Cigarette Taxes inn Your State.” This report gives you a state-by-state look at the taxes imposed on cigarettes on a state level. A supplementary report shows just how unstable these revenue streams can be.
In the last segment, Donny asks for John’s opinion on a proposed bill in California which would undue the ban preventing communists from holding government jobs.
