Heidi Holan, Illinois state director of ParentalRights.org, discussed details on what the Parental Rights Amendment says, what it does, and the background of court cases which makes it necessary to be in writing. Holan described the current progress within states and their timing issues involved with passage through Congress and then the states.
Holan spoke of how parents face countless decisions regarding the upbringing of their children, and how many of these decisions are being taken away and put into the hands of the state. Holan mentioned how parents should have the right to make the final decision on issues such as the education, healthcare, and upbringing of their children barring proof of abuse or neglect.
