John Nothdurft and Donny Kendal present episode #91 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today’s podcast features work from the Competitive Enterprise Institute, and the Buckeye Institute.
Policybot Featured Work of the Week
This week’s Policybot featured work of the week comes from the Competitive Enterprise Institute. Their new report, titled “Ten Thousand Commandments: An Annual Snapshot of the Federal Regulatory State,” examines the size and scope of government regulations in the United States. This report is filled with mind-blowing information. For instance, the estimated cost of this “hidden tax” equates to $1.9 trillion, a figure larger than the economies of most countries.
Other Think Tank Works
Next, Donny and John talk about a policy study produced by the Buckeye Institute titled “Education Savings Accounts: Expanding Education Options for Ohio.” This document lays out the reasons why an ESA program would benefit all students, even those who remain in public schools. The Buckeye Institute also produced a great video giving a brief look at the benefits of an ESA program.
In the last segment, Donny asks for John’s opinion on a proposed bill in Ohio which would allow the private use of fireworks.
