Trevor Burrus of the Cato Institute reports today on the “controversy” welling up over PBS broadcasting of a documentary on private, choice-baed schooling (School Inc. Under Attack: Milton Friedman, PBS, and the Quixotic Pursuit of “Balance” in Public Broadcasting).
The producer of the documentary is Robert Chitester, who produced PBS’s fabulously successful series with Milton Friedman, “Free to Choose.” [NOTE: The Heartland Institute records podcasts in the “Bob Chistester Meeting Room” in its Arlington Heights, Illinois headquarters.]
It’s another chapter in the daily struggle for elevated discourse and freedom of speech and communication. The issue strikes close to home for me, as I am the Chairman of the Community Advisory Board of WTTW, the PBS affiliate in Chicago.
