John Nothdurft and Donny Kendal present episode #119 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today’s podcast features work from Reason, The Beacon Center of Tennessee, and The Buckeye Institute.
Donny starts off the podcast telling John about some facts he recently learned about the relationship between California fires and non-native eucalyptus trees.
Policybot Featured Work of the Week
This week’s featured work is a report from the Beacon Center of Tennessee titled “2017 Pork Report.” This annual report highlights some of the most egregious uses of taxpayer money. John and Donny take turns talking about there favorite parts of the report.
Other Think Tank Works
Using an article from Reason’s Hit & Run Blog titled “The FCC Just Voted to Roll Back Obama-Era Net Neutrality Rules,” Donny and John talk about the reaction they’ve seen in the aftermath of the FCC’s vote.
Next, Donny and John talk about a report from the Buckeye Institute titled “‘Money Bail’ Making Ohio a More Dangerous Place to Live.” The report shows how the current bail bond system across most of the country is flawed. This flawed system can jail low-threat people while simultaneously freeing high-threat lawbreakers. The report offers a reform that could save county and state governments millions.
Last, Donny compiled a list of lifestyle changes suggested by environmentalists and global warming alarmists.
