John Nothdurft and Donny Kendal present episode #125 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today’s podcast features work from the MacIver Institute, and the Maine Heritage Policy Center .
Before moving on to think tank and policy related topics, Donny exposes the inaccuracy of Punxsutawney Phil. The truth may shock you!
John and Donny then talk about the State of the Union address. They give their opinions on the speech and discuss an article from the MacIver Institute titled “Five Things In Trump’s State Of The Union The Media Mostly Ignored.”
Better Know a Think Tank
This week, John and Donny are joined by Jacob Posik, policy analyst at The Maine Heritage Policy Center. Jacob joins the podcast to talk about his organization as well as a recently released report titled “Let Us Work: Resurrecting Entrepreneurship by Removing Barriers to Economic Opportunity.” The report examines the impacts of occupational licensing and what states can do to role back these barriers to entry.
Last, Donny asks John about his opinion on a proposed bill in California that seeks to limit the use of plastic, one-time-use straws.
