Donny Kendal; Isaac Orr, Policy Fellow at the Center of the American Experiment; and Justin Haskins bring you episode #173 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today’s episode features work from the Manhattan Institute, the Beacon Center of Tennessee, and the Texas Public Policy Foundation.
The trio start off the show talking a bit about Justin’s recent appearance on Fox’s Tucker Carlson Tonight where he talked about the ‘Green New Deal.’ Then then, using an article from the Manhattan Institute titled “The Antithesis of Green,” discuss how the ‘Green New Deal’ is physically impossible.
Today’s featured work of the week comes from the Beacon Center of Tennessee. The report, titled “Counting Dollars and Cents: The Economic Impact of a Statewide Education Savings Account Program in Tennessee,” shows that a statewide ESA program would benefit the state to the tune of $4.26 billion over the next two decades.
Next, Justin talks about his perspective on the recent ruling on the unconstitutionality of Obamacare. Responding to a Texas Public Policy Foundation article titled “Ruling on Obamacare as Unconstitutional Caught Media Off Guard,” Justin describes what this means for the future of the ACA.
Last, Donny asks Isaac and Justin about a proposed law in Oregon that would lower the state’s DUI limit from .08 percent to .05 percent.
