Heartland’s Donald Kendal, and Justin Haskins are joined by Isaac Orr, Policy Fellow at the Center of the American Experiment, in episode #182 of the In The Tank Podcast. This weekly podcast features (as always) interviews, debates, and roundtable discussions that explore the work of think tanks across the country. The show is available for download as part of the Heartland Daily Podcast every Friday. Today’s episode features work from the Center of the American Experiment, the American Enterprise Institute and the Reason Foundation.
In the first segment, Donny and Justin ask Isaac about a new Center of the American Experiment study titled “Doubling Down on Failure: How a 50 Percent by 2030 Renewable Energy Standard Would Cost Minnesota $80.2 Billion.” Isaac gives details about how much this mandate will cost the state and the average family while simultaneously doing nothing to effect climate change.
Next, the trio talk about a report from the American Enterprise Institute titled “The Unanswered Questions of Medicare for All.” Clarifying the results of the famous $32 Trillion Medicare for All Mercatus Center study, Charles Blahous explains how the $32 Trillion figure just represented “additional federal costs” – it wasn’t the total price tag.
In the last segment, the three talk about Daylight Savings. An article from Reason titled “Let Daylight Saving Time Die Already,” makes the case for stopping the system that forces us to change the clocks back and forth every year.
